Hey guys Ely here with MyBusinessMarketingMentor.com with another video piece, as you can see I’m actually driving down the road here and it’s actually safer than you might think I’ve got a little handy stand there that my camera sits on so I don’t have to hold it or any of that kind of stuff.
What I’ve got for you today is a video that, or what we’ll going to talk about today is really kind of funny because it amazes me how simple this is but how many people actually don’t do it, I was going through Starbucks the other day and those of you that know me real well, knows that Starbucks knows me quite well.
But anyway I’m going through the drive-thru and ended up striking up a conversation with the guy that was working on the drive-thru, he was actually new at that location and basically what ended up happening is…
We started talking and he asked me what I did for living and we started jabbering and I told him what we do and he was all excited about it.
Come to find out that his job at Starbucks is a part time thing that he’s doing right now as he is trying to grow his own business, so basically he was excited about what we have to offer, what we’re doing. So he wants to find out more information, he ends up getting one of my business cards and says he’s going to check out the website, and all kinds of stuff.
Now the whole point behind this is the fact that I was at the Starbucks just going through the drive-thru to get a cup of coffee but you never know where a potential customer or client might come from.
So you always want to be prepared. If I didn’t have my business card with me I would not have been able to give him that and got a potential customer, so you want to always make sure that you are prepared. You may not necessarily have all your materials with you.
But you do want to do at bare minimum always be sure to have plenty of business cards with you. Have enough information that could help somebody out if the conversation ends up getting opened
And you know if depending on the type of business you have, even if you’re doing a part time job, this is where I would say that I would give him a recommendation, is the fact that he should have his own business card also. And if I had asked for that business card that he could give it to me, because you want to always be sure that you’re there.
Like the Boy Scout tip of “Be Prepared”.
The whole point is be prepared, alright that’s kind of my marketing tip for this little video.
Always be prepared. Always have your materials ready. Always be ready with a good 30 second pitch in order to let people know what you do. The conversation will always come up now and then in different types of places you never know when it’s going to be.
