How To Eliminate Your Competition

Let’s face it, business is a dog eat dog world out there. Just about every industry out there has hundreds if not thousands of other people promoting the same product or type of product as you.

So how can a small business owner compete with everyone out there and eliminate their competition from the playing field?

I get this question all the time from business owners that are afraid of their competitors stealing their ideas or clients. Well, the answer is actually pretty easy. I’m going to give you 3 easy ways you can eliminate your competition and keep your clients safe from the barbarians claiming to do what you do.

1. Don’t beat them, join them
Stop looking at your competition as competitors and start looking at them as business resources.

Look at those you would consider your top competitors and start thinking of ways that you might be able to work with them.

If you have a higher class of product, maybe you can partner with a company that provides a lower end product and cross promote each other. Offer to create a referral program. If their niche is more towards a lower cost item, they can help promote your higher end products for a commission for the referral while you do the same for people that might not be able to afford your higher end product. Both companies win and the customer wins because they got what they wanted.

2. Specialize and sub contract
If you are specialized in one specific area and know that you can provide a better service in that one area than anyone else in town, go to your competition and offer to take jobs in that specific area off their hands. They can then focus more on other areas that might be their own specific specialty and you get more business from it.

3. Become a category of one
Put yourself out there as the authority in your specific niche. Really drill it down and make sure that everyone knows that you are the best in that one area. You may still do other things as well but really put it out there that you are the best in this one niche.

Becoming the Category of one really helps other so see you as the expert and when it comes to hiring someone or buying your product, they wont even think about anyone else. They will just come to you.

See, I told you this was actually an easy process. My personal belief is that the only competition you have is yourself. By getting your products and services out there and specializing you can easily eliminate any competition you might have and make even more money than you would have by focusing on your competition instead of yourself.
