A Different Way To Build Your Blog
This summer has been the summer of blog challenges. So far we have participated in 2 and a new one (a third one) started today. If you add in the mini ones then you get a couple more.
For those that don’t know, a typical blog challenge involved promising to write and publish a certain number of blog posts within a certain number of days. But some people have asked me why I need to join a “blog challenge” to do this.
Well in truth you don’t need to. But many people find it easier to complete a blog challenge when you join an organized one. The difference between just telling yourself “I am going to post one new blog post everyday” and joining a challenge is that there are other people in the challenge as well. So it is sort of peer pressure but in a good way.
Anyway a brand new one started today.
This one goes for 31 days. And is a bit different than the others this summer. This one is based on a digital book by Darren Rowse of ProBlogger. The book is called “31 Days To Build A Better Blog“.
Instead of focusing on writing posts this challenge focuses on bettering your blog from the back-end out. You change internal things and promote a bit different and blog with a purpose and a plan.
So today is the first day of our 31 day challenge. Myself and 155 (as of right now) other bloggers have taken up the challenge to go through the book and complete one lesson each day.
Lesson One: Create an Elevator Pitch for your blog
So today we are supposed to create an elevator pitch specifically about our blog. This is basically a short sweet statement that tells someone about your blog, what it’s goal is and how it could help or interest them. The goal being to peak their interest and get them wanting more information.
Ours is pretty straight forward:
MyBusinessMarketingMentor.com is where entrepreneurs come to learn step-by-step multi-media training to help them grow their business without shrinking their wallets.
So here is my question to you…Can you take a look around this blog and tell me if you think that this fits us? Do you get a different vibe as you go through the posts and learn more about what My Business Marketing Mentor has to offer? Please share your thoughts in the comment area below we would love to hear them.
Tomorrow brings another day and another homework assignment
I did not peak ahead so I don’t know what tomorrow will bring…stay tuned it should be a fun ride. (Come over and join in the fun if you want to grow your blog in a new and unique way http://31daysblogchallenge.com

I am also doing the 31 day challenge and I love your elevator pitch. I am still putting the finishing touches on mine!:) I think your pitch fits your site very well. Good luck on day 2!

Thanks for sharing Cindy! Good point – it is important to determine what your blog is going to contain and let people know so they can determine if they want to tune in to what you’re saying. Should you reflect it in your Blog’s title or re-iterate at the beginning of each blog series? I’ve started trying to do a weekly posting on a subject I pick to address, but I’m a novice at this. It’s easy to just write stuff, but you need to make is valuable stuff that would be of use to others. A challenge indeed!
