Sheila,

Thanks for sharing the story. That really says it all.

We all tend to want to talk about ourselves. I am so passionate about what I do that I tend to go off on a tangent with it a lot myself.

It's hard since it is human nature but if you can master the skill of asking questions and making it about them you will get a lot further.

Thanks for sharing. That was great.

Piotr,

Thanks for the comment. That is the one thing that always gets people. They don't keep up with it and stay consistent.

Thanks again.

Great points here, especially "step three - be consistent". I've seen so many people who just aren't consistent at all which not only is infuriating but also a big "WTF?!" sign placed above their heads.

Thanks for the information :)

These a 3 very good points and should be the foundation of any marketing campaign.

My favorite is making it about them. In today's rat race it is easy to get caught up in ourselves. We now have a generation called the "Me Generation" This is the perfect way to squash people and make them small....make them think that me is most important.

Those people we remember are the ones that were interested in us. Like you said it is part of good communication.

I saw this first hand. I had a father in law that I disliked being around. It was always about him. I can honestly say he did not even know how to say my maiden name.

One day I watched my daughter in a conversation with him. She was so interested in what he had to say. She asked him lots of questions and was interested in the answers.

I changed my mode of operation and became interested in him. Soon it did not matter that his interest in me was lacking. It changed our relationship for ever.

Thanks for the great info.
